Pssst. I see incontinence pads 👀

I’ve been a fan of @get_joni period care products for a while now. I am a big advocate for free bleeding and period underwear but work has involved a lot of travelling lately and travelling with bloody panties isn’t always the vibe. 😝

I love my joni pads for a disposable option. They are comfortable, thin and made out of organic ingredients that are actually absorbable. No bleached products for me, thanks!!

Incontinence is something I struggled with postpartum for years until I was able to access pelvic physio. It’s so common for new parents after birthing and honestly it can be embarrassing at times.
If you haven’t peed while laughing, sneezing, or coughing, jumping, walking or just simply existing 😅then you might not know what I’m talking about but drop a comment if you can relate. 🙋🏽‍♂️

While I don’t struggle with leakage anymore I wish I had a product like this to use when I needed it. These will be great gifts to share with folks who recently birthed or struggling with pelvic floor issues. Unfortunately pelvic physio isn’t accessible for everyone. Even though health care is “free” in Canada it doesn’t include physiotherapy, a service that truly every birthing human needs before and after to support the impact on the pelvic floor during birth (ask a pelvic physiotherapist they will explain better than I can as to why😅)

This week I ventured off to Vancouver, one of my favourite Canadian cities, and got the opportunity to finally connect with the folks @birthplacelab after collaborating on zoom since 2019 as a steering committee member and recruitment coordinator for the RESPCCT Study. I have learned so much being a part of this team and my experience is one of the factors that led to me pursuing more research work.

Participants: We are seeking 2SLGBTQ+ individuals with lived experience navigating fertility and family building in Canada in the last 5 years.

The Project: This town hall is part of Seed and Sprout’s new community-led advocacy initiative, 2SLGBTQ+ Family Building Canada

Meet us where we’re at: Virtual knowledge sharing on sexual, reproductive, and gender-affirming health care for 2S/LGBTQQIA+ communities

Join CBRC and collaborators for an engaging virtual knowledge sharing session, focused on sexual, reproductive, and gender-affirming health care for 2S/LGBTQQIA+ communities.

During the session, participants can expect to hear from individuals engaged in the incredibly important work of improving access to sexual, reproductive, and gender-affirming (SRGA) health care. CBRC will share some preliminary findings from its qualitative project Meet us where we’re at, which engaged 2S/LGBTQQIA+ community members as well as health care providers who offer SRGA care. The session will be interactive and engaging, with breakout rooms for smaller group discussions.

La séance sera l’occasion d’écouter plusieurs personnes qui consacrent leur travail à la nécessaire amélioration des soins d’affirmation de genre et de santé sexuelle et reproductive (SAGSSR). Le CBRC partagera certaines conclusions préliminaires du projet d’étude qualitative Rejoignez-nous, mené auprès de membres de la communauté 2S/LGBTQQIA+ et de prestataires offrant des SAGSSR. La séance sera interactive et participative, avec des salles de répartition permettant des discussions en petits groupes.

We’re seeking participants for two community advisory boards to inform digital resources on cannabis use during pregnancy and lactation.

With Canadian research revealing increased cannabis consumption during pregnancy post-legalization, our project, ‘Wading Through The Weeds,’ funded by the Ontario Cannabis Store’s Social Impact Fund, aims to mobilize a trauma-informed and harm reduction approach to accessing information and support.

🌟 Our goal? Culturally responsive tools to empower pregnant and lactating parents with knowledge, developed by engaging diverse voices including those with lived experience, health and social care professionals, and researchers.

By rallying around a set of key priorities, we believe we can – together – make a meaningful impact not only for mothers and birthing people but also their children and families.

I am reposting this on my page because if I have learned anything at all in the last 5 years, it has been that speaking up and taking up space is critical for these movements. For change to happen, there needs to be diverse perspectives in every room, influencing every decision. I implore everyone, especially my QTBIPOC kin, to take time to fill out the survey or reach out to Daymark directly for other accessible ways to share your thoughts because they need to hear from you to make informed decisions about where to go next. We can make change happen, but we need to do it together 💛
